LOWER TOWNSHIP — On March 30th, Democrat Kit Marlowe electronically filed petitions to run for Deputy Mayor of Lower Township. He had also collected the signatures electronically. “Filing in person is more traditional. Filing by e-mail reduces the spread of a virus that has already claimed the lives of over 5,000 Americans,” Marlowe said.

Marlowe, a retired engineer and health scientist, will run to support Chris South, who is running for mayor. South said, “When people cast their votes in November, they deserve a choice of who they would like in town Hall.”

Marlowe is no stranger to local politics. He has run twice for Township Council. He prepares taxes for older

citizens through the County RSVP program, coordinates capital projects for Cape Hope, and performs advertising and fundraising for the East Lynne Theater Company. “The mayor and deputy mayor help shape the community in which we live,” he said. “They should be persons whose values match those of the voters.”

Kit strongly advocates for transparency in local government and wants to offer new, creative solutions to some of the Township’s problems. If elected to Council, Kit promises to keep all citizens informed of the actions of Council and will be open to their ideas on making Lower Township a safe, healthy, and prosperous community.
